About Amy...

Amy York has been actively involved in theater and improvisation for over 15 years, 10 of which have been spent educating children.  A certified Theater teacher and mother of two, Amy has extensive experience working with children, from infants to teens.

Amy began her teaching career in Central Texas after graduating from Southwest Texas State University with a BFA in Theater Education. After teaching for several years in the public school system, Amy opted be a Stay-At-Home-Mom during her children's pre-school years, working part-time as an early-childhood care provider. During this time, Amy was dismayed to find a lack of affordable, quality theater programs for young children. Knowing how essential the fundamental skills used in theater are for growing children, Amy ventured out to provide a solution.

What began a few years ago as a simple backyard summer acting camp has developed into an array of  improv-based acting classes offered for children ages 3-17. Focusing on improvisation in her classes allows Amy to further engage students by putting them in the driver's seat, allowing them to make their own choices on stage. Giving the students control in the classroom allows them to feel free to be themselves, take risks, and encourages their self-advocacy skills, all of which lead to improved self-confidence in any given situation.

PEACE, LOVE, PLAY!
